Winter Twilight ⓒ 2013 Michaela Harlow – 16″ x 16″ – Pastel on Paper

After starting early this morning and finishing up ‘Winter Twilight’ —which I began late on Saturday— I broke for lunch just before one o’clock. Right as I was about to press my panini, the power went out. It just came up about a half hour ago at six o’clock, effectively forcing me to take a Sunday afternoon rest. I did manage to take a few photos while I still had daylight to work with, and I started the first couple of layers on a new oil painting. I would have liked to do more, but darkness prevailed.

Today’s piece is all blue shadow and peach light; the colors of twilight reflected upon a stand of skeletal saplings and snow covered ground…
